### How do I create a receipt for childcare services in brightwheel?

Creating a receipt is simple with brightwheel billing. You can set up your billing once and let our system automatically generate and send receipts to families after each payment.

### Where are receipts sent?

Receipts are sent to the email on file once payment is successfully processed. You can also[view and print any desired invoices](https://help.mybrightwheel.com/en/articles/5598645-billing-v3-invoices-overview)
 as needed.

### When do families receive their receipts?

For payments made using a credit card, receipts should be sent pretty quickly. For payments made using an ACH method, receipts can take up to 5-7 business days to issue after the payment is completed.

### How do families access childcare receipts for tax or reimbursement purposes?

Payers can access financial reports for tax or reimbursement right in brightwheel.

Individual invoices or statements can be printed, which include the important information needed (EIN, charge details, dates of service). Or, the payment history can be exported. This export will include the following information: payment method, amount, date, and status; payer name; amount applied to invoice(s); invoice number(s); charges; and any dates of service that the provider added.

### Can I apply discounts to a childcare receipt?

Yes, you can easily add sibling or special discounts to a student’s invoice and these discounts will show up on the issued childcare receipt.

### Can families claim childcare expenses without receipts?

No, families generally cannot claim childcare expenses without receipts. In order to claim these expenses for tax purposes, receipts are typically required as proof of payment. It is important to keep track of and retain receipts for any childcare expenses you wish to claim. Consult with your own attorney, CPA, or tax professional regarding your specific situation.
