Fun and learning ahead at Fonwood Head Start! Fonwood Head Start is an early care and education provider in Houston that welcomes students and families to a center-based facility. As a center, Fonwood Head Start provides an environment that’s geared towards stability, structure and providing learning resources and opportunities for children to explore the sights and sounds of the world around them. Children will meet and form bonds with peers of like ages and benefit from quality instructions from experienced adults. With a full-time schedule, as well, Fonwood Head Start allows parents to work and assume other responsibilities while their children are playing and learning amongst their peers. Children have the opportunity to get used to the natural rhythms of a daily structured learning environment with a full-time schedule, which can help smooth the transition into kindergarten and future education. The full-time schedule allows plenty of opportunities for creativity and fun, too, as the day always feels too short when you’re having fun! In addition, Fonwood Head Start offers a therapeutic program that seeks to create a supportive, inclusive environment for students that can struggle with their feelings and emotions. At Fonwood Head Start, students will learn problem-solving skills and new ways of processing what’s going on inside of them through structured activities and time with other students and staff. Students will benefit from a nurturing, understanding environment that engages the whole child and child’s entire caregiving community in seeking strong development outcomes.
