Helms Elem Pre-K is a public pre-kindergarten program serving the parents and families of Houston. As a pre-k, Helms Elem Pre-K provides a structured, stable learning environment that replicates the best of the formal school years ahead and is hosted on the same campus where they may even be able to attend kindergarten once they graduate pre-k. Pre-k provides more resources and opportunities for students to explore the world around them, as well as a bevy of peers and socialization opportunities. Moreover, the full-time schedule at Helms Elem Pre-K allows parents to get a structured learning environment for their children that’ll help develop cognitive and language skills during these most formative years. The full-time-schedule allows for full curriculums of play, fun and social time with peers and staff. Children will get to know their peers in-depth and form real bonds, which helps develop social and behavioral skills that’ll be important for kindergarten and the years ahead. In addition, Helms Elem Pre-K takes a project-based educational approach that seeks to unlock the very best of student creativity and natural curiosity. A project-based curriculum focused on deep, in-depth instruction and exposure to a topical area and doesn’t rush the topic to conform to timelines or enforce limits on student interactivity. Students at Helms Elem Pre-K will take risks, collaborate together and cooperatively solve challenges that arise during the course of their projects, instilling both a love of learning and a love of working together to achieve their goals.
