Sheffield Head Start is a center-based child care option for the parents and families of Houston. Students at Sheffield Head Start will benefit from the stable, school-like learning environment that replicates the best of what students will experience in the years ahead without asking too much of the little ones too quickly. At a center like Sheffield Head Start, students will benefit as well from the manifold socialization opportunities that come with having so many peers of similar ages and an enriching, stimulating curriculum. With a full-time schedule, as well, Sheffield Head Start allows parents to work and assume other responsibilities while their children are playing and learning amongst their peers. Children have the opportunity to get used to the natural rhythms of a daily structured learning environment with a full-time schedule, which can help smooth the transition into kindergarten and future education. The full-time schedule allows plenty of opportunities for creativity and fun, too, as the day always feels too short when you’re having fun! In addition, Sheffield Head Start offers a therapeutic program that seeks to create a supportive, inclusive environment for students that can struggle with their feelings and emotions. At Sheffield Head Start, students will learn problem-solving skills and new ways of processing what’s going on inside of them through structured activities and time with other students and staff. Students will benefit from a nurturing, understanding environment that engages the whole child and child’s entire caregiving community in seeking strong development outcomes.
