Choices Academy & Learning Center can be an instrumental part of the learning journey for the students and families of Philadelphia. Choices Academy & Learning Center is a center-based early care and education program, and as a center provides that school-like environment that’s structured for students to learn, grow and thrive. This environment can help prepare students for the levels ahead and kindergarten. As a center, as well, Choices Academy & Learning Center has the space and resources for activities, an enriching curriculum and plenty of peers of similar ages for students to learn and laugh with. Choices Academy & Learning Center moreover offers a full-time schedule, making it convenient for parents to drop their children off in the morning and know they’ll have plenty of time for everything else in the day they need to take care of. With a full-time schedule, as well, teachers and staff have the luxury of getting to know students in-depth, day in and day out. Parents can have the confidence that their children are growing, learning and playing in a structured environment. In addition, Choices Academy & Learning Center teaches a mixed-age curriculum that facilities peer learning and communal growth. In a mixed-age classroom like at Choices Academy & Learning Center, students receive open-ended, stimulating activities and are encouraged to move at their own pace. Younger students receive help and encouragement from older students, boosting their confidence and self-esteem, and older students get to lend a helping hand, teaching empathy and the joy of giving. Mixed-age learning replicates the best of a family or neighborhood group structure as children socialize with peers a little ahead or a little behind their own development path.
