About PCCH Preschool

PCCH Preschool, known lovingly as Ches Pres, has a long and proud history, thriving in the same location for over 60 years! We believe strongly in a play-based interdisciplinary curriculum. Our school’s program is one of learning through play in an effort to garner and support skills of early mathematics, science, fine arts, literacy, music, Spanish, cultural celebration, and movement. We believe in childhood unplugged. There will be plenty of inundation later in life from marketing, media, school, social life, and the workforce which will require them to be on screens, but now is their time to adventure un-tethered! Our curriculum is rooted in thematic study. Every month, the entire school focuses on one theme. By doing this, our teachers are able to share ideas for projects to make, books to read, songs to sing, and experiments to complete while also being able to adapt to the needs and interests of each individual classroom. Sharing a school theme also allows for experiential learning to occur across our age groups. For example, when all of our classrooms are focused on learning about animals habitats, we can bring in a nature center presentation that can be enjoyed by all of our students. Similarly, our parent community may plan a group outing to the aquarium when we’re studying the ocean. Ultimately, our students leave Ches Pres Preschool kind, curious, creative, courteous, and kindergarten-ready.
