Kaitlyn and Kalen, a husband-and-wife duo, took the plunge of a lifetime and opened Grow Together Learning Center in the spring of 2020. Even though Kalen is an accountant at a firm by day, he learned the hard way that even he could not manage billing without some support. After saying goodbye to invoicing with Microsoft Word and accepting cash/check payments, Kalen was amazed that he saved 10 hours each week on billing tasks thanks to brightwheel’s automated system.

A chance for the owners to step back

Kaitlyn, who oversees everything outside of tuition billing such as payroll, family communication, and managing staff, also quickly saw benefits after moving off pen and paper. With brightwheel’s staff check-in tool and automated payroll report, Kaitlyn no longer needed to manually calculate hours worked nor remember to print out sign-in sheets ahead of time. She also loved that teachers could easily see allergy information for the children right in the brightwheel app.

Thanks to all the minute tasks brightwheel took care of for both Kaitlyn and Kalen, they were able to step back from day-to-day operations at Grow Together Learning and focus more on strategic decisions that would directly impact the future of their business. Kalen continues to work as an accountant during the day, and Kaitlyn has even taken on extra creative projects such as authoring a new children’s book series.
