We’re excited to share the newest enhancements to brightwheel’s Experience Curriculum for the 2025–2026 school year, designed to make teaching easier, support every child’s growth, and empower educators with even more tools for success.
Built on our trusted research-based foundation and aligned to all 50 states' early learning standards, this year’s updates bring a wealth of new features that save teachers time, elevate classroom experiences, and help programs stand out to families.
What’s new for 2025–2026?
Experience Curriculum continues to evolve with the latest research in early childhood education, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive. Here’s what’s new this year:
1. A fully revised Developmental Continuum of Skills
At the heart of Experience Curriculum is the Developmental Continuum of Skills—every lesson is thoughtfully designed to support specific benchmarks in the continuum, ensuring intentional and focused skill development.
For the 2025–2026 school year, the continuum has been enhanced to reflect the latest research and classroom needs:
- New domain subskills provide more precision and clarity for targeted instruction.
- The Language & Literacy domain now aligns closely with the Science of Reading.
- The Mathematics domain includes expanded skills essential for building number sense.
- The Social & Emotional domain now emphasizes problem-solving as a key developmental milestone.
- New Approaches to Learning domain supports children's curiosity, persistence and flexible thinking.
2. Language and literacy updates aligned to the Science of Reading
The Science of Reading is a collection of interdisciplinary, evidence-based research that focuses on how children learn to read (learn more here). Updates include a new phonological awareness scope and sequence, and engaging small group and table top activities. New activities like Alphabet Adventure, Write & Wonder, and Storytime Connections strengthen phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension to support every child's early literacy journey.
3. Expanded mathematics skills
With deeper support for number sense, sequencing, and foundational reasoning, the updated math scope builds stronger skills and greater confidence in young learners.
4. New Spanish teaching resources
Spanish digital teacher guides are now available to help Spanish speaking teachers implement the curriculum and ensure quality instruction across classrooms. Beginning in September 2025, educators can add a supplemental Spanish literacy kit to their Experience Curriculum subscription. This kit includes Spanish-language books for each theme month, a teacher guide and essential literacy tools, like letter cards and rhyme cards—making it easy to support bilingual instruction in your classroom.
